Hi there..

I live in a mid terrace house. Dining room has a concrete floor, living roomhas old creaky wooden floorboards. The issue is that the concrete floor sits about 1/4 higher than the floorboards. It slopes down to the floorboard level but is so obviousand sticks out like a sore thumb under the carpet..

I intend to fix the creaks then hardboard over the floorboards to even it out.

Does anyone think this will work or will I have an even noisier floor as a result.

Thanks!!

Screw the floor boards down and then lay a sheet of ply to make up the difference to the concrete floor.

MIND the pipes and cables!

Screw any loose floorboards down then ply over with 6mm WBP plywood fixing with ring nails or screws every 6" and on joints every 4"
If you want to get it even more level across both rooms you could use a wood smoothing screed like F.balls 700.
