Hello

Does anyone have any tips on removing the Flow valve on a Baxi Duotec, it feels like it's welded in. I have read that they can be a pain to remove.
I will be getting the recommended socket tomorrow, 18mm 6 pointed and hope that works, If not a very expensive unit change!
What would be the feeling on applying a little gentle heat to the housing, I know there are plastic parts in there but surrounded by water. The valve has to be changed, so any damage does not matter.

Thanks' for any advice given

Usually just the 18mm socket or angled box spanner so I’ve heard. I have only changed one, didn’t have a socket at the time, so used my knipex grips.

yep ok to use a bit of heat some people use a freeze spray called crack it
give it a good sharp hit to try and free it first they do sometimes crumble leaving half of it in . If that happens then its a new housing

Thank you for all your advice, unfortunately what you said might happen did happen, it has crumbled. Looking like a new unit to be fitted.

Thank you for the links, I expected to pay a lot more than that.
