Found some useful info on HepVo traps

Shame there not approved for boiler safety vent discharges - can't see a reason why not.

Assuming you meant 'condensate discharge' (why would you EVER put a trap on an ED??), using a HepVo instead of a deep trap (where a trap is required) would be EXTREMELY dangerous. On a condensate discharge, most of the point of having a trap is to prevent flue gases getting into the drain and potentially into the house if the internal trap in the boiler dries out, NOT only to prevent potentially-inflammable gases from the drains getting into the boiler. Also, MI for some boilers (eg. Glowworm CXI Combi) SPECIFICALLY rule out an external trap.

No I wasn't refering to condensate traps - as you say despite the article mentioning their use on condensing boilers this is clearly incorrect. Flue gases could well be blown into the drainage system. Some boilers have an internal 75mm trap and can be plumbed directly to the drains, other have shallow traps and must have an additional 75mm trap via an air break.

I mean the boilers safety valve discharge ie the 3 bar pressure relief.

What page 7 says:

Condensate piping
Condensate piping from high-efficiency boilers or airconditioning
units discharging to sanitary pipework should
be provided with a trap to prevent foul air entering the
building. Where this is not provided by the boiler
manufacturer, use of a self-sealing valve will prevent the
problems associated with water-filled traps drying out during
periods of non-use. Acidic discharge from condensing
boilers is acceptable.

A HepVo trap can be used for a condensate boiler drain. And it can be used as an unvented cylinder relief valve outlet too, using a tundish. See page 7.

Very clear. HepVOs are brilliant.

Oki the hepv0 valve in an approved method of discharging an Unvented cylinder temperature and pressure valve discharge into a soil stack system.
However it must be assembled and comply with the approved diagram ( in the bpec unvented book)
