i am building an extension at the back of my house and want to know how much off my inside wall my soil pipe should be bearing in mind my foundation wall is 9inch (to carry my joists)then breaks into 4 inches above the joists and does this pipe have to be above the toilet or can a flexible bend be put on?

if the pipe is an s.v.p. then it will need to continue out through the roof. or it may just need to admit air, via an air admittance valve, to help prevent siphoning.

either way, it is best if this pipe is offset and not directly beneath the loo outlet. it needs to be offset so that a 90 degree branch and a pan connector can be accommodated within the remaining space. probably a minimum of 6" or more.

if the toilet waste is to go directly into the soil pipe then the pipe needs to finish about 30mm away from finished plastering. this applies to most c.c. toilets.

if you are fitting a low level cistern, then the toilet waste will need to be a lot further from the finished plastering, probably 100mm or more.
