I moved into a new house and they had a drop ceiling. I tore down the drop ceiling and i want to frame the ceiling and put up sheetrock.

I have sheetrocked before, but i've never framed anything. There are ducts in the ceiling so I'll have to build a soffit to lower the ceiling about 12" from the floor joists. Anyone have any links or books to learn how to do this?

I've read a couple links on the web that said it's just like building a wall and turning it sideways. Should I use 2x4's nailed together parallel?

Thanks in advance guys and gals,

ScAndal

Hello there!
Can I apologise first?
I think the reason you've had no replies from your question is -
What are you talking about?
All the guys answering questions seem to be from England.
Can you break it down into something we can understand?
Please don't think I'm being sarcastic - just very confused.
;)
