The Mrs has just bought a freezer off a friend and on the front of it is a button that I can only describe as having a aircon symbol on it. Can anyone please advise what it does and do I need it on, I know I could just press it it on but that may do more harm than good.....at a guess I would of said it would make it colder like aircon but if its frozen how can you get any colder ! Thanks alot.

This freezer is what brand?

and this symbol looks like?

As in my post I can only describe it as a aircon symbol and I am not sure on the brand, I will get back to you with that.

do you mean a blue triangle with a white arrow? I don't know what you have in mind.

No, its like a snowflake but as its a whithe button the picture of it is black. The same as the aircon button in your car but that is usally white on a black button........sorry for being so unhelpful

There isn't one. Once I find out the make and model i.e when I finish work I will look to download one, but in the meantime I thought I would ask.

It may be a fast freeze switch. This just over rides the t/sta & makes it continues run, (it will trip on the overload cuttout).
Its used to rapidly reduce the temp when you may be doing home freezing etc.

To see if this is what it is wait for the freezer to switch off on the t/stat, then press the button & it should start.

If its not that & its a frost free model then its to do with that.

After surfing the net it seems as though it is a fastfreeze option. Thanks DIYISFUN and all who has tired to help me.
