Has anyone built their own gabion baskets

I'm looking to build a gabion wall 2m x 0.8m x 0.3m (HxWxD) to fill a gap. I was wondering what the most cost-effective method of making this was. It would appear that many of the ready made baskets are supplied flat packed and are virtually diy anyway. That got me thinking how difficult they would be to build - especially if using the helical clips

Regards

They're pretty cheap and there's a competitive market. Unless you need anything particularly unusual i don't see any benefit to making them instead of just buying them.

Whatever you use, ensure it's well galvanised or it will drop apart in a few years.

The super-practical Chris from Salvage Rebuilds has just made his own gabion wall from various bits of scrap, see 4:00 onwards...
