I read in my DIY manual that it is cheaper to put a fence up using wood posts rather than concrete, but my experience costing wooden posts against concrete is that after you have bought the stakes for the ground and the fixings, then the wooden option is more expensive.

Is the DIY manual wrong?

if by stakes for the ground you mean met posts or the likes of = usless
and wood posts in the ground rot out after a few years,
then yes the manual is wrong in the long term.

The DIY manual is right, if it makes no mention of metposts.

Are you actually going to be putting up a fence or are you just questioning the book?
