Please help......I need to paint my garden gates, previously they have been stained/varnised, but my father in law has suggested using some thing called Creocote this time. He said it is really good stuff, it will protect my gates just the same, and it is much cheaper to buy as my gates are very large, approx 6ft high by 5ft wide and there is two of them....and then I have a personal gate aswell, approx 6ft high and 3 ft wide......so obviously it would cost me a fortune to buy stain/varnish.....also there is a bit of green on the gates (like algae type stuff) and my father in law said that Creocote would kill all this off as soon as its painted on, thats why hes suggested using it.....the thing is I only seem to be able to find it in two colours, dark or light brown.......please could someone suggest something else that comes in different colours or could i paint them with the same sort of paint that ive used on fence panels, Ronseal 5 year wood preserve in Red Ceder.
