Hi
I have a problem with the gas oiler in that even when the control panel is in the rest period my boiler still ignites to heat the hot water storage tank. If I turn the control unit to OFF then the oiler doesn't come on. If I click it through to programme even though it isn't timed to come on it turns on.

Thinking it might be the programme control I replaced it with a new one but it's still happening.

Could it be that the separate in line hot water valve is stuck open or something causing the boiler to fire up?

I am at a loss at the moment so any help or suggestion would be very appreciated.

Kind regards

Richard

By the sounds of it you are running on an s plan 2,2port valves the hot water one is probably stuck open constantly activating the micro switch which is making the boiler fire up.

microswitch in motorised valve will be sticking wd40 and a flick of a screwdriver can free them if not its a new complete valve or head if avialable

Thanks for that. It's very old and I don't think the valve has worked for a long time. Until recently it didn't bother me that when the heating came on it also heated the water but now even with the heating off and the timer off the boiler still fires up every fifteen minutes or so to heat the water. If for the time being I simply electrically disconnected the hot water valve will that stop it happening or am I being a bit simplistic ?
