Hi there My wife is having difficulties with the ignition switch on our Sirroco 2000 Streamline 16" does anyone know if a faulty ingition switch can be bought and instaled by myself and where is the best place to buy one from other than the manufacturers? How much do they cost?

I would not expect a faulty switch to be available to purchase.
Even if you could then I dont know why you would ever want to fit a faulty part.
In any case its not adviseable for a DIYer to attempt repairs on gas appliances and particularly a fire without the training to test the appliance afterwards for safe operation.

Thank you for your words of wisdom Tony.I should have read what I was printing before I unleashed it on the public.Having read a few other reveiws on similar topics I have come to the conclusion that it is the filter just below the oxy thingy that should have been cleared the last time it was serviced 19/11/12. I think he (Corgi registered service engineer ).should come back and do what I paid him for
CORGI ceased registering gas people about four years ago, its Gas Safe now.
Its difficult to imagine what servicing was done if the air balancing inlet filter was not cleaned at the service.
If thats causing the problem then call him back. A blocked filter would be expected to cause the pilot light to sometimes go out.

Not neccesarily. Different envoirenments can cause the air inlet or filter to become partially blcked, even if it was cleaned at the service THREE months ago.
Do you have hard floors and/or pets?

Who said anything about cost of health and safety ? Mr Fireman ! Yes we do have hardwood floors ! With expert advice like "try having a little accident " ! If you cant give helpful advice I sugest you go play fireman elsewhere and leave the advice giving to someone who knows what he/she is talking about.
