I have a combi boiler. I've noticed the last couple of days my hot water (especially in the shower) seems to start off cool then heat up for a few seconds then cool down again. At first I thought it was a problem with the shower but after running the taps with the water setting at its highest it was going hot then cooled off. Any ideas.

Also I'm thinking of replacing the shower with an electric one, do I need a plumber, electrician or a gas safe engineer.
Thanks

If you want to replace a gas-heated shower with an electric one, you need a psychiatrist.

Lol there's always one, but I'm sure you know what I mean, the water for the shower is heated by the gas combi.
Thanks

He does know what you mean, an electric shower should only be considered as a last resort as the performance is often poor in comparison.

Each to their own, better a hot electric than a cool one. I shall maybe just ring a qualified plumber /electrician maybe he can point me in the right direction.

Getting the boiler repaired would probably be a cheaper/less disruptive option, the fault you have is quite common, there are a number of threads where people have the same issue. Most combi boilers can provide far more hot water than an electric shower, and heating water with gas is cheaper than with electric. And I am a qualified electrician!
