Two companies including British gas and a large local said they will fit new 22mm from metre to boiler. it's hidden in loft, yet it was 22mm to just above the boiler (they didn't check). then reduced to 15mm.

3rd guy cheapest quote says 28mm from metre. I looked at the rough guide it's 12m so said okay fine. he's fitted 28mm to just outside metre then reduced to 22mm.

looking in the metre cabinet the regulator has a 22mm flexi pipe on it. the pipe out of the ground is god knows huge! so my question is does 12m of 28mm give enough head room for the boiler/4 hob gas oven? does the 22mm inside the gas metre ruin everything?

it's his 4th day tomorrow so last chance I think to ask.

Depends on how many kw's your appliances use. It is impossible to answer your question without surveying first! A good engineer will do a proper calculation which takes into account pipe length for pipe from meter and all branches to appliances, number of bends and elbows, and gas consumption of appliances, also diversity. The 22mm flexi pipe before the regulator is the anaconda. Ignore this as the pipe sizing calcuations are calculated from the meter onwards, not before it.
