Gem combi boiler dhw flow switch

My daughter has a Gem combi boiler which was in her flat when she moved in 7 years ago. During that times the DHW flow switch has been changed 3 times because it leaks. Tightening the 4 screws sometimes helps, but only for a short time.
Is this a common fault, and do I just need to keep replacing it about every 2 years?
