It could well be what it is, but in mentioning genetic engineering to be able to feed the world, is he just justifying his theory. Survival of the fittest would have counteracted this notion, but with all the chemicals in the environment, he may well be right; except that we can modify genes nowadays, so I doubt if this is a real and concern anymore.
