How easy is it to remove stone cladding from around a chimney breast?

We are thinking of buying a new house. We like it but it has stone cladding around the chimney breast in both downstairs rooms.

We want to be sure we can get rid of it before making an offer.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Edith

if its just stuck on to a brick chimney then you can just knock it off with a hammer and bloster. they may well be adhesive left on the chimney which might be difficult to remove.

but if the chimney is built from the stone its another kettle of fish.

I had a similar problem a few years ago and rather than remove the cladding I chose to Dot & Dab Plasterboards over the top of it to enclose it all. This is probably the quickest and easiest way and it saves a lot of mess.Once it was finished you would never have known it was ever there.
