Wouldn't testing them with jump leads and a healthy battery, that could well be giving out 13 or more volts risk damaging the new 11v gp's? Wouldn't worry testing them like that with the removed one's.

I wouldn't worry for the few secs you would be testing them for, they would just get a little hotter with the 12.5v you would give them from the battery.
