When I got home last night the temperature was minus one degree Centigrade. My boiler was in an unusual state. It would try to start for about three seconds then switch off and repeat this cycle endlessly. No burner light would come on.
After 90mins of trying to fix it I got out my electric paint stripper heat-gun and pointed it at the boiler (without the outer cover on) for about 5 mins. Suddenly it fired back in to action! The burner ignited and has been working normally all night.
How can I prevent this happening again in future?
