Glow Worm 38CXI

I friend has rang up with a problem. This is not the improved Ultracom and the combi is 3 years old. The right hand hydro block has been replaced and intermittent hot water resulted. The burner modulates right down low and only tepid water comes out, sometime just cold. The DHW cold water filter was cleaned out, which was clear, and replaced and the boiler worked for a whole bath full then went back to normal. The plate heat exchanger is not blocked.

The CH is fine

Anyone who works on Glow Worms any idea what this fault could be?

For interest, is the Glow Worm 38CXi flow switch, off and on, just a switch or does it sense the rate of flow?
