Gold plated optical cable

Idea is gold does not tarnish so always makes a good connection, however in real terms @Alec_t is correct, they can get more money for them, as clearly with optical does not matter if it tarnishes as not an electrical connection.

No worse than audio power cables. 1.5m power cords selling for £££ yet they connect to the existing house wiring.

Its £5.59 - I doubt its real 24k gold plating at that.
Reviews say the build quality is good.
What's the problem if it matches other gold plated connectors being used? :)

BIB: I hope that's a tongue-in-cheek remark and that really you understand that optical is a light beam connection, so there's no electrical connection to benefit from any kind of metallic end connectors let alone ones coated with a few micros of gold plating :ROFLMAO:

Of course.
The electrons will obviously choose to use the optical cable that has gold on it's mating moldings as it looks pretty. :)

The choice for looking pretty is bang on, but there's no electron mobility here darling. Well, not unless the gear has been hit by lightning. It takes a hell of a lot of potential difference to break the electrons free in PVC to get a current to flow. It's all photons; massless packets of energy. They still like shiny things though. ;) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

We know this - but true audiophiles know better..... :)

Somewhere there is ( was ) a source of mains wiring cable that has ( had ) a lot of "pure gold" used in the conductors. Said to be far better than plain copper cable.

I cannot find any links to it, maybe it has been discontinued, but the search did turn up some cable from Russ Andrews

does this mean the cable will not work properly if the current is less than 13 Amp
