Take the electrical tape off first.
Heat shrink is OK but you need an end to get it over.
Where is the socket the plug is going to go in and how doe it exit the trunking? i.e. Is the a hole for the cable to come through and, if so, does it have a grommet fitted?
I'll redo it. Isn't this tape usually used on leaking pipes?The tape is far too loose.
You are suppose to pull to three times its original length (like elastic) while wrapping it round the cable overlapping the previous turn by at least half - then it will stick to itself and eventually become like a one piece rubber tube.
