How can this work? Where's the money coming from? How can Councils buy houses off those that can't afford them and then let them live in them? Council tax would go through the roof.

What a brilliant inspired idea by the government to buy back houses from the private sector and reintroduce them as council housing! the perfect way to turn around mouldy maggie thatcher's stranglehold on the working classes, it can only lead to more power for the workers and a return to unions being strong again, hit the employers hard fellow workers and get the pay reward you deserve, down with the tories for ever!!! A day to remember in history, give the party member that thought up this excellent scheme a promotion.

Yes, but don't forget that we, the taxpayer, are also underwriting Northern Rock. So, not are we bailing out greedy banks, we are funding irresponsible borrowers. Brilliant!

I think that the British tax payer is carrying a massive burden. Rescuing banks, saving people from eviction, fighting 2 wars, lifting people out of poverty (Brown's words), supporting millions of asylum seekers, feeding Africa, the list is endless. We can't go into a clean hospital or have our kids taught to read and write, or give pensioners a reasonable pension. Now you know why!!

The governments bail out morons who buy houses for more then they are worth because the darn fools fell for the low prime rate interest and then when they realize the house is worth $100,000 and they paid $200,00 they cry help

So I think it is only fair that the same governments reimburse everyone who lost money on the stock market or on a horse race or even playing lottery

A loser is a loser so to be politically correct EVERYONE SHOULD BE PAID BACK.

Start a business and sell products for $100 less then you bought it for NO problem let the governments reward the stupid by giving them back their money to do it all over again
