Who would have thought gutting council budgets and giving them more responsibility for Adult Social care from 2012 (Health Act pushed through by Lansley) would leave so many now to cut services and raise taxes.

Adult Social care - accounts for about 22% of the budget for local councils. Housing accounts for 3%.

Adult social care covers services for older people including nursing, home, residential and day care and meals and services for people with a physical disability, learning disability or mental health needs.

    https://www.theguardian.com/society...to-rise-across-england-as-austerity-hits-hard

The annual survey by the Local Government Information Unit thinktank found that cuts were increasingly visible and that after eight years of austerity – which has cost English councils 40% of their central funding

Central funding now accounts for about 52% of council funding down from about 75-80%. Council Taxes now account for 25% of funding, about 20% comes from redistributed business rates.

Cameron was right we will PAY MORE FOR LESS.

The whole council concept is bonkers in this day and age. There are over 400 different councils in the UK all performing very similar functions. Why don't they have, one procurement, IT, HR etc dept and at the very least buy stuff centrally.

Lol and that's going to be enough to cover the shortfalls.

They do but stuff collectively. You need to read up how councils operate.

That's right - you keep telling yourself that it is the mark of a loony to take notice of facts, and to WANT to do so, and to seek them out, and to care about truth, honesty, decency etc, and that to be ignorant, and to WANT to remain so, and to not give a stuff about truth, honesty, decency etc are the marks of a caring, civilised and intelligent person.

You carry on cultivating within yourself all the characteristics of hateful, hate-filled scum.
