I need to lay a patio on wet sloping ground outside my backdoor. Will I need to kill off the grass & numerous weeds or can I lay a hardcore & the a weed barrier & the the layer of gravel without ruining the environment???????
I also need it to be level! Do I need to level the earth 1st?
(Its not a steep slope)

Just in the process of digging a french drain system to dry out the garden a wee bit. Typical highland saturation

I've laid three slab patios and never had any weeds come through the gaps but that's probably because I put down a 2-3 inch layer of dry-mix first

Any patio you lay next to your house has to slope away from it. Normally you would lay the patio so that it's almost level and just sloping away very slightly

When I was researching mine I found the standard seemed to be a 1 inch drop for every 80 inches
