Evening all.

Can you use the newer white hep fittings with the older grey hep pipe?

If so, just use a regular insert?

If not, what would you use to cap one of these spurs?

Cheers

Yes you can, you can also use either the new style insert or the old type.

The old style won’t give you the “rumble” but either will work fine and not affect the warranty.

You could either replace a tee with a coupler or cut the pipe and leave enough of a stubb to get a stopend on (don’t forget the insert)

If you replace the Tee with a coupling be careful not to damage the pipe when removing the old grab wedge (ring) as even small scores can cause “weeps” if located under the “O” ring.

That version of the Hep2o fitting will have either a “White” or ‘Green” grab wedge, these are different to the earlier all metal grab rings and can be removed intact with care.

There was a wedge removal tool available, they only cost pennies but are increasingly difficult to get hold of (I have quite a few knocking about), however, if you can unscrew the cap and slide it off the pipe, turn it round and slide it back up it will ease the wedge off, but depending on where you cut the pipe this isn’t always possible.
You may also be able to “waggle” it off using your finger nails.
