Hi newby to this forum so be gentle. i am trying to find out how the thermostat works in a ten to twelve year old grohemix deck mounted thermostat bath/shower unit, can it get limed up and if so how do i get it to bits and clean. cant find a model or part number. Reason being, on full hot its got loads of pressure on full cold same but in between it just dribbles.

Thanks in anticipation

i cant get any pressure between full cold or full hot ie if i try to set it at 40 degrees it dribbles but if i turn it either way it comes at a useable pressure. Would it help if i posted a pic of the offending unit ?

hi seco you still about ? what i need to know is how this this thing works ie is the thermostat a vane or float or what, if so can it get limed up if so can it be stripped and cleaned. There is a screw in the end of the thermostat handle which i assume will allow that to come off but is there pressure behind that ? or do i unscrew the side to get at it ? or should i just lob it out and get another

Cheers

sounds like a thermostatic issue.
you can remove the screw that'll remove the handle and you should see how the rest comes out.
i'll see if i can find what model/yr it is and if spares are available.
i have seen them on the net.

is it run on even pressures ?

its my moms unit at her house and i dont have internet at home so i can only contact while i am here so i appreciate your tollerance and im not a plumber either but i got a bit of common and used to deal in actuated valves so i understand most of the principals i just never tackled one of these before and am trying to save her 300 quid for a new one

yes the pressure is very even here and its only a small bungalow so its not like the toilets and sinks are going at the same time, local pressures are good even at peak times,
