Hi all, me and my neighbour share the same down pipe just 2 houses. She has recently had new fascia and guttering done but they have installed it higher than mine so now mine don’t flow and leaks everywhere.
She is saying it’s my responsibility to fix it I have spoke to her but she won’t call the company to come fix it can anyone help me with who is at fault to fix it

I don’t see how it’s your responsibility to fix what someone else has changed (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it). She’s had work done that adversely affects your property.

This what I have said to her but she is saying because she has paid for it it’s up to her to do what she wants but we both share the same downpipe so surely she can’t restrict mine from flowing mine is the white gutter you can see how they have attached mine back to hers but it goes up

Clearly a botch. She’ll soon moan if that wetness appears on her inside wall. I get what she’s saying about it’s up to her, but it’s almost like doing something that would affect a communal garden imo.

I get her aswel it’s up to her but if we share the same downpipe surely it has to run of my side as the downpipe is her side

Not sure if you’ve seen these, or if they’re any use, I can’t view the oh my gutters as my browser is out of date:

On a nice dry day like tomorrow I'd adjust and angle the connection where the two gutters meet, to expel the rain water to fall directly on her side soaking her wall by her window.

Just don't let her see you do it.

She will then come moaning back.

Unfortunately whilst that may focus her thinking until it does the white gutter will not flow correctly and still cause issues further up the line, better to take off the last bit of white gutter so it discharges straight on to neighbours side and then let them take the issue forward and argue why and what rights they have to prevent the free discharge of the guttering. Of course easy enough for me to say and do as I have a ladder and heights do not worry me. Communication is the best course of action but your neighbour does not seem up for it.

We had new half round installed on our semi, with a shared downpipes, front and back, down the middle. After a few years, without consulting us - next door had a cowboy, fit new square, fascias and soffits, joining our half round to the new square, but without proper adaptors, and as you would expect, it flooded down our outside wall. Despite strong words, they wouldn't sort it out.

I ended up resolving it, by fitting new fascias, soffits, and our would seem to have the downpipe, meaning the only way you can get your side to flow, would be to either lower her gutter system, or raise the level your own. You could also write a formal letter, inviting her to get a proper tradesman in to rectify it, or threaten legal action if it is not resolved.

Other than that, you could sabotage it, by blocking the end of her gutter, where it joins, and ensure your own gutters is able to drain and flow down her wall.

If Corky made a subtle alteration to where white meets black just in the direction of next door top window.
Just slightly so it looks as is a recent rain fall has dislodged the connection.

The black, is a good 1" or more higher in level than the white, so it is more that subtle. It's the result of another cowboy installer, who started the install at the fall pipe, and assumed the gutter had to have a good rise from there, to work, and likely worked without sting lines to set the level, or simply winged it.

Who ever installed the Black wasn't someone who knows the ins and outs of guttering.

However the existing white is as its always been, so a little treak (so as not to notice) could send rain water from the white into the neighbours garden and all could be blamed on the weather caused by the offending gutter fitter.

Can't block the black, as then it's sabotaged and obvious.

You have, or have obtained , a legal right to share her gutter and drain. If she don’t cooperate aim your gutter into her garden, but in the long term sort yours out. I would install my own down pipe and drain into my front area or the road
