Hello,

I need to hack off a load of failed plaster back to the brick along the whole outside wall where the bay windows are (which has blown due to previous damp), and probably some on the adjoining walls although i dont want to hack off all the plaster on the inside wall as most of it is fine. Can i just hack the blown parts off, and render/replaster adjacent to the existing plaster?

This is a 1920ish double skin brick walls (no cavity) house with cement scratch coat and plaster on the outside walls, although the inside walls dont appear to have any cement render.

Many thanks

Leave the sound plaster on and skim the lot once you have done your base coat.
