woosie, if you mean the ones you see advertised in the paper, my sister inlaw has one, it depends what you call quiet, and like all mechanical things it will wear out and get worse

woosie, we bought a couple of these heaters a few years back and there is a bit of noise but not so much as to disturb. the heaters we bought had a cut out switch that operated if the heater was to fall over.
