Hello everyone,

I have a red LED displaying that the Overheat Thermostat Lockout has been triggered. I have left it for an hour and reset as requested, the problem still appears. The reset button looks a little lose, but apart from that it has been working fine. Any suggestions?

Much appreciated.

Paul.

One of two things has happened

The overheat stat has become oversensitive and is locking out when it shouldnt

or

The overheat stat is cutting out because it is overheating, begging the question:- Why is it overheating?

Answers are along the lines of:-

1 The water isn't flowing fast enough through the boiler pointing to poor flow causes are:- dodgy pump, sludge , other blockage

2. The flow is fine but theres too much heat causes are :- Airflow problem, fan, Pump over-run not operating

A suggestion to start off with is too run your thermostat/s at about 3/4 rather than max if you dont do that already

Add to Number 2 above, possible temperature sensor failure!

The red led isn't just the overheat lockout, I think, that's the fan switch/ pump switch etc one as well. Flashing is ignition lockout. Overheat is manual reset brown push button innit? Below left. If it doesn't click back in it didn't overheat . Turn mains off to reset a constant red non-overheat led.
Standard cause for lockout on one o them is the APS due to fluffy venturi.

Yep found it - how boring.
"When the power is first turned on The pump and fan will operate
for 10 to 15 seconds whilst the controls check the operation of the
air pressure switch, the water flow switch, and the overheat
thermostat. If any of these are not operating correctly the Safety
Lock-out LED will be illuminated.
In the event of a power up fault investigate the problem etc

Thanks for all the responses, certainly very helpful, going by the responses is seems it could be a pressure problem/sludge, I shall call in the professionals and get it sorted.

Paul.

Chris, according to what you have copied then an overheat condition WILL cause an operation of the lock out led!

I have booked an engineer (£82.50 per hour!) and they have said it needs a service because I am in a hard water area and the boiler is probably "clogged up". Any idea how long this will take? and hence how much.

Thanks

Paul.
