Hi Huey

The best "value" lacquer you can buy is probably the longest lasting and not the cheapest. When you take the cost of the whole job, (machine hire, abrasives, time out of the room, effort etc,) it seems strange to go and save £30 or £40 buying a lower durability "Own Brand" product which lasts half the time.

I have a personal preference for Bona lacquers, but I am sure there are a few others on this forum with other preferences. I have used the stuff from the DIY sheds and not been impressed. Find a flooring specialist shop and you should not go too far wrong. Look for 100% Polyurethane and that will be better still.

thanks - have checked out the bona stuff - looks good! yes, I don't intend to go cheap, but have nearly 50 square metres to do so . . . . .

thanks for input
