Based on the above you have been mugged ???

To some tune are you still within the 14 day cooling off period.
Not really.
Assuming the quote has been accepted and the job completed correctly, the contract between op and heating engineer is valid and its terms satisfied.
If the job is done, unfortunately you need to pay and next time shop around.
You could complain to the company and hope for a discount as a gesture of goodwill, but they don't have to.
Is it a large company with blue shiny vans?

Thanks everyone for your comments - didn’t even fix the problem both then back the next day and got this from them….
Hi Neil,
Ive had a word with office and we can change the PRV valve and install leak sealer x 2 for £400+vat.
They would usually charge for me to come back today as ive had to drain some of system and our work is operating correctly.
We will send a written quote lt me knownour thoughts.
Cheers Andrew

Got them on check a trade too
Ah the mystery is solved.

Never ever go to online sites to source tradesmen.

There are plenty of really good experienced tradesmen around….the problem is that because they always busy they don’t advertise, so you have to seek them out.

Nobody pays for lead generation when they are already proper busy.

0800Homefix - my wife called them freaking out the the heating had failed - £120 call out and the first hour free then after a bit of sucking of teeth - showing me a Starbucks cup full of mucky water - ‘thats all in your system mate - that’s why you’ve got problems’ then £900 to fix right away like he was doing me a favour!! C@@ts

Not being funny but around hear plumbers/heating engineers are the most expensive trade of all. But at the moment with good tradesmen being in short supply most of the other trades are getting wiser and more expensive.

Nothing wrong with charging a decent rate. Just needs to be a decent service for that rate.

Some however take the rally píss
