Hi. long story short. glow worm engineer came and replaced a faulty zone motorised valve ( CH was coming on when only HW was being called for) common problem it seems.
However after he fitted the new value he said he was unable to refill the the system as there was an apparent blockage in the piper from the header tank.
He was telling me this over the phone while i was at work ( as telling my wife this was like speaking chinese to her)
He drew a diagram on the report sheet he left and and explained he tapped the pipes and the noise coming from them appeared as if the water was not going through the system.
His conclusion was that sludge have of solidifyed somewhere down the pipework (in a slight bend on the pipework)
He said he could back fill the system but that would cause problems in the future.
This system was installed by a Master Plumber and even the Engineer stated the workmanship of the pipework is the best he has seen in long time.
I am at a lose as of what to do as i am not covered on the pipework to and from the boiler and i am without water and heating.
Any help would be gratefully taken with gratitude

What you describe is very common, not linked to poor workmanship. It'll be blocked where the feed pipe tee's into the system.

This needs cutting out and unblocking/replacing. A simple job for any plumber.

top man, they are coming back tomorrow so i will dicuss this with him... i will keep you posted

Thanks mate

Yep, you were spot on, magnets are sticking to the T joint area you suggested and also showing signs of attaction to other areas nearby and further down under the pump.
We ran the pump on it own and the engineer did point out that that the system had a large amount of air in it which we bled( also did all the rads and the highest point in the loft)
The system is full and all works fine, the engineer suggested that the other guy who put the zone valve in wasnt patient enough and should of allowed for air to enter the system and then bled it.He did say its a slow refilling system and because the pipes were furred and not blocked the system would take slightly longer to refill, he did a temperture for flow and return showing an 8 degree difference which he said was normal
However he did suggest sooner rather than later cut out that area and reroute slightly and flush all the rads and system
Im thinking that he is right about it not being blocked which is what i was mostly concerned about and i think i should follow his advice..what do you think mate?
