Hearth for stove

I need to raise the level of my concrete floor in my chimney by about 5cm. Can I use a 4:1 mix (sharp sand:cement) to do this at this thickness or would balast need to be added?

The area is only 50cm by 40cm

Why don't you just use a 600*600*50mm precast concrete slab?
