Hi everyone I hope you are having a good weekend, I am hoping someone can give me some pointers about the issue I am having.

The problem appears not to be with the boiler (engineer has been out twice and has changed most parts as it is 8 months old and under warranty). About a month ago the boiler and heating where working perfectly but then the boiler failed, not 100% sure about the details but the fuses went two in the boiler and one in the main board in the house. These where replaced and for about 12 hours everything worked perfectly. Then only a few radiators would work (those closer to the boiler), the ones further away don't really receive much heat at all or none. My suspicion is a partial blockage in one of the pipes but I really don't know.

The boiler is a MAIN combi boiler if that helps. The radiators are very old and when the new boiler was put in 8 months ago the system was power flushed and we do have a magnetic filter. One thing that I was told that was unusual was that when the fuses blew even the neutral went in the boiler.

Here is hoping someone has some ideas as we have only partial heating for the last month.

Regards

James

Look in the "Boiler & Central Heating FAQ's" at the top of the "Plumbing and Central Heating" Forum. You will find what you are looking for. Usually a simple balancing issue.

It is a pity that you did not find out what repairs were done. It sounds like an issue wuith the pump.

It COULD be an issue with the pump! The impeller could be blocked!

A magnetic filter does not stop non magnetic debris.

Try balancing first but expect that the pump will need inspecting if that does not solve the problem. It also needs to be checked by the finger test!
