I live in Florida and need to have my AC system replaced which currently includes the inside air handler and the outside unit which now includes a heat pump. I was told by the AC company that since my unit has a heat strip in the air handler that its not necessary to have the outside unit to have heat pump capabilities since the heat strip will provide enough heat thereby saving me $1000 for the pump. Not sure if that is a good idea or stick with the heat pump option. Any thoughts on this?
