Heating only until the Megaflo is up to temperature

That was not the water per se but arcing across the wet insulation of the switch between the live contacts and the earthed chassis! That produces black carbon which conducts even better and eventually the fuse will blow ( hopefully if its 3A as it should be! ).

Just as well the earth is a good one.
