Heating system inhibitor

I've had to drain down my heating system, Worcester 28i. My question is how do do you fill system back up with some rust & limescale inhibitor eg Magnaclean?

Hi.

A magnaclean is a retro fit magnetic device that will clean out the magnetic particles in your system. If your system is newish or has had inhibitor in from the start then you might not require one. If you noticed rusty water on your drain down it might be worth considering fitting one.

As mentioned, magnaclean is a filter, and worth fitting in at least 9 out of 10 cases.
Various ways of adding inhibitor, if you have a towelrail, poring it in at the top is the easiest.
I would stick with one of the real brands and stay far from own brands and budget stuff.

if you think it is dirty, best to give it a chemical clean before final fill. This will loosen a lot of dirt so you can flush it out, and what remains, if loose, will circulate round until the Magnaclean traps the remaining black particles. I like to use Sentinel X400 which is very mild, but takes 4 weeks of circulation. I am not a pro. There are aggressive cleaners that are much faster.

You do not say why you think it is dirty.

If you have a Feed and Expansion (Header tank) look and see if it has mud at the bottom. If so, bale it out and sponge clean - do not wash it down into the radiators.
