Hi Guys, any sound advice very welcome :)

I've changed the Danfoss oil pump on a WB Heatslave 20/25 oil boiler due to a leaking pressure relief valve.

Now its going to lockout after it ran once and only once for half an hour. Magic eye tests okay, motor is running, not sure if the igniter fires.

Strange thing is voltage to the oil pump solenoid reads as 66 Volts which is very odd? Yes? Baffled!

Sounds like an air lock in the fuel line. What model burner is fitted to the boiler?
When you changed the oil pump, did you set the pressure with a gauge? If not, then go back to basics and make sure there is pressure. Where and when are you measuring the voltage to the solenoid? If at the plug with the solenoid disconnected, then I suspect that is an invalid test as there will be no initial resistance.

Thanks for that Oilhead.

It's a Bentone B11-C burner with a Honeywell TF830-3 controller.

Following what you said I put 230V directly onto the solenoid and nothing changed, still locked out, still the same same drip of oil if I loosen the nut on the bleed/testpoint downstream of the the pump.

Again I can't hear any sparking but don't know if the oil pressure is okay.

I'm considering these options

A) Put the old pump back on to see what happens, it worked but the rhe relief valve leaked
B) Pull the burner and take it to ny shed/workshop and buy the bit to refurbish it

Probably do A first.

Don't want to give up now, luckily it's warm weather and one of our showers is electric ;)

Are you sure you have oil going to the burner? You need to prove the flow to the flexi.
Have you also checked to make sure there is no by pass screw fitted if you are running on a one pipe system?
Don't mean to be rude, but have you fitted the same pump and did you fit the drive dog?

Hi Oilhead,

You were right, I hadn't set up the pump correctly, thanks for the pointers.

Anyway I've learned a lot, had the burner out and stripped down, best way to change the pump is with the boiler out on the bench.

I've been maintaining this boiler for 19 years, maybe time to get a new one with a warranty :)
