Hi,

I am planning to replace a single radiator with a new double one in a bay window in an upstairs bedroom . The new radiator weighs around 55kg including the water. Dimensions are 450mm x 1600m.

The wall is plasterboard and I have found 2 vertical studs and luckily they are in the correct location to attach both brackets to. My only worry is how well those vertical studs were screwed into the sill plate. Should I cut away some plasterboard and investigate further or just crack on?

Cheers!

just crack on, IF and that is a very big IF, the studs werent secured properly, there is no way the radiator could pull the studs through the plasterboard

Thanks for the replies chaps, as advised I cracked on and got the radiator up and plumbed in over the long weekend. It seems really solid so think it will be fine.

Cheers again!
