Help -- can't access my desktop now! How do I fix it?

2 totally seperate issues, the fact that the drive is not detected in bios has nothing at all whatsoever to do with windows.

Ok, I tried to get into BIOS last night, but it was a no-go. When starting up the PC, I tried numerous things. (CTRL+S many times -- that didn't work; then I restarted the PC, and hit DEL DEL DEL DEL, etc., but still didn't get into BIOS. I've also hit F6, and F1, but still it doesn't help.)

Here's what info I get now when starting up the PC:

A7N8X-E Deluxe ACPI BIOS Rev 1008
Processor: AMD Athon XP 3000+
Memory Testing: 524,288K OK
Primary Master: HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GSA-4081B A100
Primary Slave: None
Secondary Master: None
Secondary Slave: None

Keyboard error or no keyboard present.

Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter SETUP.

I've checked my keyboard, and the batteries are in good working order. (A cordless Logitech keyboard.)

So, the screen is jammed and no key I hit will progress the screen.

Can anyone suggest what I should do now? How about if I switch off the PC, and then slide out the motherboard, then reinsert it, and then power up the PC? (I've previously installed my net adaptor card myself for my Wireless G set-up, so I know what the inside of my tower-drive's like.)
