I have 4 plug sockets in my kitchen, only 2 of them are behind the cooker.

There is a gap of about 5 inches in height and there is also a gap of about 3 inches from the cooker to the wall.

My question is, are these sockets ok to use? There isn't any grease or marks on them from the cooker, and they look perfectly clean and ok. Just worried about the flex getting too hot or the casing melting ot something.

Any help would be good, thanks

One of the things that sometimes happen, people plug the kettle in and the flex goes over the hob, and is burnt.

There is also the problem, that you will be leaning over the cooker to plug things in, exposing yourself to a real risk of burns and scalds.

So this is not a good place to have a socket.

Many people dislike cooker switches with a built in socket because it encourages things to be plugged in close to the cooker. This is to be avoided.

Assuming you want to avoid the cost of a first-class solution, like moving the cooker away from the sockets, or moving the sockets away from the cooker, or installing some more sockets in a convenient place, I am wondering if e.g. a trailing socket adaptor (like a 4-way) could be plugged in and fastened to the wall in a convenient position where the flex is away from the heat.

Let's see what other ideas come out. Without wishing to be rude, would the cost of some professional electrical work (there are regulations which make DIY electrical work in kitchens somewhat difficult) be a problem?
