help please taps

hi guys can anyone help me iam putting new taps on basin upstairs i have a cobie boiler down staires in the kittchen i have a big hot water tank up staires in a cubby hole how you understand this what i want is to turn the hot water off to the tap in the basin so i can change it can anyone please tell me where to turn off the hot water to the tap thanks guys

hi mate not sure think the boiler is a valliant its on the wall iam not to brainy when it comes to the boiler thanks mate

have you a tank in loft feeding it ?
what colour is the cylinder ?

hi yes there is a black plastic tank in the attic then this cooper tank in cubard then the valliant in the kittchen thanks

ok look for a pipe from the loft to the base of the cylinder.
half way down this pipe should be a red gate valve close it that will stop the hot water from the taps.

it will stop any hot water that is supplied by the cylinder not from the combi.
be careful if it is stiff they are prone to snapping inside.
isolate the gate valve and run a hot tap it will stop after a min or so.

if it don't stop fully the gate valve is not shutting fully.

even when drained have a cloth handy when you undo the tap as the pipe will sill have a bit of water in.

thanks mate i have turned one of the gate vales but it did not stop the hot water there are a few gate vales on the tank

should be half wall down the wall on the pipe that feed the very base of cylinder with a draincock on the end

i have seen the drain cock at the bottom is it the gate vale that is on that pipe thanks mate for your help this is for ma daughter wants the taps changing kids lol

yes should be positioned just above height of cylinder
