See pic - currently having a rear extension to a Victorian terrace.
Paths either side of existing rear of property - when opening up the back, discovered that existing (original slate) DPC is 10cm below ground level.
Previous owner appears to have internally rendered to stop damp coming through.
What would people suggest is a reasonable approach to try and prevent future damp. French drains along the paths either side to reduce the ground level and channel water was my thinking?
Damp proof companies naturally trying to go down the internal DPC/render route but feels like this doesn't tackle the root cause.
Any thoughts much appreciated!
