help! - smoke alarm query in high pitch roof

please help me - tomorrow i am having an electrician come to put in a 1st fix. before he reels me off a load of bunkham, can any1 answer me this = i have a 15 foot high pitched roof in a kitchen - new extension, do i need a smoke alarm? its a new house with one alarm outside this kitchen in the hall on the mains circuit?>

you never should put a smoke alarm in a kitchen.

heat yes, smoke no

i think the building regs require one / floor

you can get mains heat detectors compatible with your smoke detector if its new, and for piece of mind, kitchen high fire risk, i would install one
