Help! The water supply connection burst off!

Hi,

I replaced the toilet fill valve unit and when I flushed it the water supply pipe burst off. The nut attached to the pipe split so will need a new pipe, but what did I do wrong to make it happen?

Possibly overtightened it.

Maybe crossed the thread (guessing your description of events is clouded).

Thanks Dan. I thought I might've over tightened it, or under. Could also have cross threaded it. What would you need a picture of? The connection itself?

Possible old and brittle. Over tightened it and it break.

Replace it with silver flexible braid with brass nut and connector.

It wasn't your fault, just bad luck
Get a replacement flexi tap connector and away you go.

Thanks everyone, it's good to know it wasn't entirely my fault!! Will get a new better quality fixture tomorrow. Really appreciate the help.
