Help with slab mortar colouring

hi guys, I have laid about 40sqm of Indian sandstone which look great, I used a dry mortar mix for the jointing and packed it in. It’s set fine but where I have acid washed it’s took the top layer of cement out the mortar leaving it patchy grey and sand colour.

Can I some how stain the mortar grey? What would I use? I though about fence stain as it would sink into the mortar or watered down masonry paint?

Any one done this before? I’ll seal the patio when I’m happy

Almost as bad as the crappy brushed in version, but at least yours was compacted. Give it another two years and a couple of jet washes and you will have enough room to joint it properly.
