The boiler is about 10 years old and has developed a serious problem.

The central heating is running but not as hot as it was 2 weeks ago.

But the main problem is that when you turn the hot water tap on the boiler will fire up then after a minute the whole boiler will shut down. I then have to reignite the pilot just to get the central heating on.

The presure is fine, the pump has been replaced recently. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Has it died and can it be fixed.

I also live in a hard water area.

Theres the likely cause of your problem. The boiler cannot pass the required heat to the DHW through the calorifier so it is getting to hot.

Either that or the pump overrun stat is up the spout and turning the pump off instead of keeping it running.

Cheers for the feedback. Is this fixable. Or is it just time to get a new boiler.

Well i have got british gas out for thursday on home care thingy. You will all probably shoot me down in flames for using them. But then I don't know any reliable plumbers in my area.
