Just got given a Henry HVR200A vacuum cleaner - it works on normal mode but cuts off if you press the boost switch. Sounds as though there is a switch or relay that is faulty. It can be re-set by switching off then on again. Anybody have experience on this :?: :(

Thanks

I contacted Numatic, the manufacturer - Seems to me Henrys were too reliable and the manufacturer has introduced a "power save" feature which fails. Apparently there is an electronic circuit board which fails - the old models just had a change-over switch for the two speeds.

Can't you remove the electronic circuit board and rewire it so it only works on high power mode, that's what everyone uses anyway.

Andy

Yes - i'll by-pass the circuit board. Just wandered if someone had already done it ?

I have just had the same problem with my daughter's Henry, but the problem was intermittent.
1. I changed the PCB - no joy.
2. I changed the Hi/Low switch - no joy.
3. I changed the on/off switch - no joy.
4. Changed the motor for a good working one (don't tell the wife) - no joy.
I eventually found the fault to be the Capacitor/resistor on the mains lead, as it attaches to the rotary head. The wire had snapped under the screw giving an intermittent fault. Easy fix when eventually found, but has given me a few more grey hairs.
