Hi, I’m trying to buy a set (or two) of washers for my Heritage TSC 04 bathroom mixer tap. The tap is leaking from the spout housing. Can anyone suggest where I can buy these from or how I can decide on the size/type of generic washers which may fit, please?
if you're sure it needs washers (i.e. it has a capstan or knob which rotates several turns between "on" and "off" it most likely has a half-inch washer (basin tap) or a 3/4" washer (bath tap).
these are nominal sizes.
I'd suggest you buy a packet before you take it apart. if it happens to need something different you will be able to see.
IMO it's worth polishing up the parts with a green nylon pan scourer and a toothbrush while you have it apart, and relubricating with white silicone grease. You can put PTFE tape on the threads where it screws into the body, and where the "bell" or easyclean cover screws on. This will reduce the risk of it seizing in place later.
If it has a quarter-turn lever instead of a knob it is almost certain to have a ceramic cartridge that will cost considerably more. If you measure it precisely and count the splines you might get a generic replacement from a bathroom spares retailer.
Thanks to CBW & JohnD. No luck with Heritage themselves - they no longer supply the parts? It’s the centre spindle where the water leaks from (not the tap itself unfortunately) but again, thanks for your time.
